Contact us with Accurx

You can contact a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional online using a website called Accurx.

Urgent appointments

For non life threatening emergencies, one of our doctors is always on call to help.

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:

If you feel the problem is urgent the receptionist will ask you a few questions to help us arrange the most appropriate course of action, this may then result in a doctor phoning you back, to give advice and offer you a same day appointment if clinically necessary.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times up to 3 weeks in advance:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Telephone advice

We are pleased to offer help and advice by telephone consultations. Just request this when phoning the surgery and you will be called back that day by one of the team.

A few examples of what we can help with over the phone are:

  • medication questions, eg side effects, unsure how to take it, drug interactions
  • test results
  • advice on how you can help yourself to stay well or get better from common ailments
  • hospital referral uncertainties and questions

We cannot deal with the following requests by phone:

  • fit notes/ sick notes, please make a face to face appointment
  • medication requests, please speak to your pharmacist or bring in repeat medication request slips to reception

Enhanced access

We offer routine early morning and evening appointments for those patients who find it difficult to attend the routine surgeries during their normal working day.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Walk in centres

Walk-in centres are a nurse led service offering treatment and advice for minor illness and injuries as well as health promotion and information. Some medications can be dispensed for minor ailments and conditions and emergency contraception.

Our nearest urgent care centre is South Bristol Community Hospital.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

Home visits are only made if you are completely house bound and are unable to leave home, or if your illness prevents you from coming to the practice. Please consider that a home visit takes more GP time than an appointment in the surgery, a GP is able to see 3 or 4 patients in surgery in the time it takes to complete one home visit.

If you are likely to need a home visit, please phone the surgery as early as possible, preferably before 11am.

It will help us if you could answer the questions asked by our reception team but, please note that one of our doctors may call you back to get a clearer picture of your problem.
